About Overlay PDF

This tool processes the selected PDF in your browser and creates a separate output file only when you choose the action.

  • Privacy: Upload is not required for this tool

What Overlay PDF does

Overlay PDF draws pages from a second PDF over the full dimensions of a base PDF, creating a layered output rather than joining documents end to end.

Choose the right tool: Need pages placed sequentially instead of on top of each other? Use Merge PDF.

Supported workflow

  • Match overlay pages to base pages
  • Apply the first overlay page to every base page
  • Scale overlays to the full base-page dimensions
  • Create the output locally in the browser

Important limitations

  • The current tool does not provide opacity, offset, rotation, or manual alignment controls.
  • If the overlay has fewer pages, its last available page is reused in matching mode.
  • This overlays content; it does not concatenate pages like Merge PDF.

File handling and privacy

Selected files are processed in your browser and do not need to be uploaded to PDFStack servers.

Overlay PDF FAQ

What does overlaying PDFs do?

It places content from one PDF page on top of another PDF page instead of adding pages sequentially.

Can one overlay page be applied to every page?

Yes. Choose the first-page-to-all-pages mode.

Can matching overlay pages be used?

Yes. Matching mode uses corresponding overlay pages and reuses the last available overlay page when needed.

Can I change opacity or alignment?

No. The current overlay is scaled to the full base page without opacity or offset controls.

Are PDFs uploaded?

Selected files are processed in your browser and do not need to be uploaded to PDFStack servers.
